There is something your body told you this year that you chose not to listen to. Maybe it was a tightness in your stomach before you said yes, or an urge to leave a conversation that you couldn’t explain to anyone. October is going to bring it back to you.
October’s transits have a rare quality. Throughout the entire month, the Sun moves only through Gates of the Splenic Center, the center of instinct, health and fear. Added to this is Venus, which stations retrograde on October 3 and spends six weeks reviewing with you what you value, who you let into your life and how you handle money.
The first days of the month still belong to Gate 18, which September left open. The urge to correct what isn’t working remains present until the 2nd. From then on, the tone shifts, and each week brings a different question.
What These Transits Activate in You
To understand October’s transits, start with this center. The Splenic Center is the body’s oldest alarm system. It speaks in the present moment and doesn’t repeat the message if you don’t hear it. I often say that the intuition coming from this center is like a voice that speaks softly and only once.
It is also the center where the most primal fears live. With the Sun moving through these Gates for an entire month, it’s natural for fears you thought you had put away to resurface, such as the doubt about whether you are capable or the feeling that time is slipping away from you. This is part of the transit and doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with you.
In your Chart, the Gates are the numbers you see next to each center, at the end of the lines that connect the centers to one another. When you were born with an active Gate, the half of the line that corresponds to it appears colored. In the Gates you have in white, the energy reaches you from outside, and that is why you will feel these transits more intensely in those Gates, since you have no fixed way of living it.
Each Gate has a partner in the center on the other side of the line, called the harmonic Gate. When both are active, the line is colored from one end to the other and forms a Channel, a complete connection between two centers. Picture a bridge made of two halves. If you were born with one of them and the transit brings the other, the bridge becomes whole during those days, and you feel within you an energy that usually needs someone or something from outside to be activated.
October 2 to 8: the Gate of Depth (Sun 48 / Earth 21)
On October 2, at 5:32 pm, the Sun enters Gate 48 and the Earth enters Gate 21. Gate 48 holds a wisdom that only appears when it is needed. You rarely feel it before the moment arrives. What you do feel is its absence, and this is where the challenge of this week lies: the sense that something is missing before you can take the next step.
Look back and notice how many times the answer arrived exactly when you needed it. Gate 48 works this way. Depth reveals itself in motion, as the situation unfolds, and you will rarely find it by preparing indefinitely.
In Gate 21, the Earth speaks of control over your own life. What resources you have and how you manage them, what choices you make about the way you live and about the money you earn. Saturn is also in this Gate for almost the entire month, which gives weight to this question. It’s a good week to look honestly at what lies under your responsibility.
On October 3, at 8:16 am, Venus stations retrograde in Gate 44. This movement happens roughly every year and a half and lasts about six weeks, until November 14. Gate 44 recognizes patterns. With Venus moving backwards here, you are likely to recognize in a current relationship a pattern you have lived before. It’s worth seeing that pattern clearly, without assuming the past is bound to repeat itself.
October 8 to 14: the Gate of Intuition (Sun 57 / Earth 51)

On October 8, at 10:31 am, the Sun enters Gate 57 and the Earth enters Gate 51. This is the most intense week of October’s transits.
Gate 57 is the ability to read the environment as soon as you walk into a room. Sometimes it arrives as an unexplained discomfort, other times as a certainty that appears before thought. During this period, Uranus is in Gate 20, in the Throat Center, and connects with the Sun in Gate 57. The result is a complete Channel between instinct and expression. You will find yourself saying things in the moment, without having prepared them, and many of them will be right.
At the same time, the Earth in Gate 51 meets Neptune in Gate 25 and forms the Channel of Initiation. Gate 51 is shock, whatever shakes you and moves you out of the place where you were comfortable. On the other side of the Channel, Gate 25 brings the innocence that trusts life even after being shaken. Together, they bring unexpected events that work as an awakening. Often, that awakening comes through someone else’s decision and requires you to reposition yourself.
The New Moon takes place on October 10, at 4:50 pm, in Gate 57. It’s the most favorable moment of the month to begin something guided by instinct, as long as you respect your Strategy and your Authority.
October 14 to 19: the Gate of Continuity (Sun 32 / Earth 42)
On October 14, at 3:02 am, the Sun enters Gate 32 and the Earth enters Gate 42. After the turbulence of the previous week, October’s transits slow down and ask you to look at what is worth keeping.
Gate 32 has a nose for what will last. It knows, before it can explain why, whether a project, a partnership or a relationship has legs. The fear of this Gate is the fear of failure, and when it takes over, it either paralyzes you or makes you act in a hurry. The useful question this week is a simple one: which projects are you putting energy into only out of fear of failing?
In Gate 42, the Earth brings the desire to carry a cycle through to its end. It’s an energy of growth that needs process. The risk is wanting to reach the finish so quickly that you lose what the path was teaching you. If you rush, the same theme will show up again later.
On October 16, Pluto resumes direct motion in Gate 41. Since the beginning of the month, Pluto in Gate 41 and the North Node in Gate 30 form a complete Channel that holds until near the end of November. It’s a collective energy of imagining possibilities and of longing for experiences that make you feel alive. With Pluto moving forward, that vision gains direction.
October 19 to 25: the Gate of Values (Sun 50 / Earth 3)

On October 19, at 7:08 pm, the Sun enters Gate 50 and the Earth enters Gate 3. On October 22, Venus, still retrograde, also moves back into Gate 50. During these days, the Sun and Venus are in the same Gate, and the theme of values takes center stage in October’s transits.
Gate 50 is the inner sense of what is fair and what is good for you and for the group you belong to. The values of this Gate adjust to people and circumstances, and it’s healthy for them to change over time. With Venus retrograde here, you may realize that some of the values you defend were inherited and no longer serve you. The fear of this Gate is the fear of responsibility. Notice whether you are avoiding stepping into a place that is already yours.
Gate 3, in the Earth, is the energy of starting something new out of confusion. The beginnings of this Gate are difficult by nature. Whatever irritates or blocks you this week may be pointing toward the solution that only you can see.
On October 24, at 8:13 am, Mercury stations retrograde in Gate 43 until November 13. Old conversations come back, and ideas you had already explained need to be explained again. Give your words time. In the early hours of the 25th, the clocks go back one hour, and the times given from here on in this article are already in winter time.
October 25 to 31: the Gate of the Player (Sun 28 / Earth 27)
On October 25, at 9:51 am, the Sun enters Gate 28 and the Earth enters Gate 27. Gate 28 wants to live life to the full and has little patience for a lukewarm existence. The fear that comes with it is the fear of falling behind on what you should have done or of running out of time. When that fear takes over, you live in a hurry, and that hurry takes away the very life you wanted to live.
The Earth in Gate 27 brings care for others and reminds you that you also count in that equation. With Venus still in Gate 50, the Earth in Gate 27 forms the Channel of Preservation, an energy of caring for those who belong to your circle and of preserving what holds value.
The Full Moon takes place on October 26, at 4:12 am, with the Moon in Gate 27 and the Sun in Gate 28. During these hours, the Moon reinforces the care the Earth is already bringing. If you have been giving too much to everyone and too little to yourself, this Full Moon shows you that with clarity.
October 31 to November 5: the Gate of Patterns (Sun 44 / Earth 24)
On October 31, at 1:09 am, the Sun enters Gate 44, the same Gate where Venus stationed retrograde at the start of the month. The Earth moves into Gate 24. On that same day, Venus moves back into Gate 32.
October’s transits close at the point where the review began. Gate 44 shows you patterns again, this time with a month of experience behind you. Gate 24 is the mind that turns the same subject over and over until, without warning, clarity arrives. Let your thinking go in circles without forcing it to reach a conclusion. The answer appears when it is ready.

During the week of Gate 57, between the 8th and the 14th, pay attention to the responses that arise without preparation. With Mercury retrograde from October 24, informing people before you move forward spares you misunderstandings that will take a while to undo.
